Resource-Efficient Production and Energy Efficiency

We rely on modern production methods that reduce energy consumption and waste. In particular, the use of our melting and casting technologies follows the highest efficiency standards to keep CO₂ emissions as low as possible. Through continuous investment in advanced equipment and technologies, we minimize our ecological footprint while ensuring the outstanding quality of our products. This is also reflected in our environmental and sustainability certifications.

Some of our concrete measures include:

Conversion of Our Energy Sources:

  • Transition from fossil fuels to sustainable alternatives
  • Electrical melting instead of gas or oil operation to reduce emissions
  • Use of more efficient technologies through process optimization and automation
  • In-house electricity generation via solar power and other innovative technologies
  • Consideration of future conversion to hydrogen technologies for climate-neutral production
  • Installation of a photovoltaic system

Briquetting of Metal Chips:

  • Improved recyclability due to compact briquettes
  • Reduced transport emissions thanks to lower volume
  • Reintroduction of coolant into the system – reducing consumption by 50% and lowering disposal volumes

Core Sand Recycling:

  • Mechanical instead of thermal treatment – eliminating gas consumption
  • Significant reduction in CO₂ emissions
  • Use of recycled core sand in production – reducing the need for new sand and lowering disposal quantities

Reprocessing Instead of Disposing:

  • Materials and by-products are reused or reprocessed whenever possible – for example, sand for the cement industry or road construction.

Heat Recovery from Compressors and Ventilation Systems:

  • Reuse of recovered heat for heating systems significantly reduces gas consumption
  • Lower CO₂ emissions through intelligent use of existing energy sources

Optimized Waste Separation:

  • Efficient separation of waste streams reduces residual waste and improves recyclability

Cooling Water Return System:

  • Reduced water consumption through recirculation of cooling water
  • Leasing company-owned land for reforestation with fast-growing trees to offset CO₂ emissions

Transition to Electromobility

  • Specification for new acquisitions
  • New company vehicles will be procured exclusively with hybrid or fully electric drivetrains
  • Conversion of industrial trucks from gas to electric operation, taking the specific operational requirements into account

Sustainable Material Selection and Recycling

Aluminum is a material with virtually unlimited recycling potential — and we make extensive use of it. Casting residues and production scrap are collected, processed, and reintegrated into the production cycle. In this way, we actively contribute to reducing the consumption of primary materials and conserving natural resources.

With the establishment of Grohmann Fonds e.V., we are taking a strong stand for social responsibility. Voluntary donations from our employees are doubled by the company and used to support regional, social, and sustainable projects. Among the initiatives we support are:
